Why did I show up with a still camera that day? I felt I had to try to capture the emotions of the people bringing to the viewers what
was arguably the most horrific moment in the history of the United States. Every video camera was focused on bringing the news to the viewer. These are the moments in between. Why did I shoot film on 9/11? Because I feel film
has a soul. Video and digital images are a cold electronic medium from capture to recording. Film is an organic process. Light and chemistry and paper. Additionally, I can't delete a film image. Who knows what role a currently
anonymous person in the background of a seemingly flawed photograph may play in future events. A properly stored negative will last far longer than any electronic storage media and you NEVER need to upgrade anything to look at an
image from a negative or film positive. |
